Southwestern Distillery is an independent, family-owned company handcrafting Gin and Pastis in tiny batches (the old-fashioned way) by the coast of north Cornwall.
At the heart of their process lies a special, flame-fired, copper pot still called Tamara, goddess of the Tamar.
Together with a harmonious balance of precision and flair, Southwestern Distillery produce spirits that are truly exceptional.
Tarquin, the company founder, pioneer and head distiller is so proud of what he creates that he puts his name on every bottle.
Cornwall’s first gin for over a century is a contemporary take on a classic London Dry gin. They use fragrant handpicked Devon violets and fresh orange zest to deliver an aromatic sensation unlike any other.
The result is comparable to stumbling upon a beautiful orange blossom in the middle of a crisp, dry pine forest.
Only the best and most pure spirit (the heart) makes it into Tarquin’s Gin, which is diluted to bottling strength at 42% with Cornish spring water.
Tarquin’s Gin has won a number of awards including a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016.
Southwestern Distillery’s second spirit is the UK’s first pastis, ever.
Cornish Pastis is a modern take on the French anise classic, and the first of its kind to be created in the UK.
Foraged gorse flowers from the Atlantic clifftops and fresh orange zest help to deliver its fresh, invigorating and unique aroma.
The pastis is distilled just like Tarquin’s Gin and then finished off with a touch of liquorice root for colour. The drink is silky smooth and absolutely spectacular.
Another award-winning craft spirit, the Pastis has won double gold medal at the San Francisco World spirits Competition 2016. It also was a gold medal winner at the San Francisco 2014 spirits competition.
Southwestern Distillery has also produced a range of limited edition and seasonal Tarquin’s gins including:
The latest edition to the Southwestern Distillery permanent range is Tarquin’s Brilliant British Blackberry Gin. It features brand’s Cornish Gin as its base. Post-distillation, the liquid is infused with blackberries and “a touch” of local Cornish wildflower honey, then bottled at 38% ABV.
